Liaoning Mobile and FiberHome Continue to Innovate and Complete the first Domestic Single Wave 400G Transmission 1000km Live Network Trial


Recently, China Mobile Liaoning Branch (hereinafter referred to as "Liaoning Mobile") and FiberHome completed the first single wave 400G ultra-long-haul 1000km live network trial in China. This pilot is based on FiberHome’s existing FONST 5000 series products. The two parties used the high-quality platform of the joint laboratory to select a transmission path of about 1000km from Shenyang-Yingkou-Dalian-Dandong, using the 400G PS-16QAM code type, and completed single-wave 400G ultra-long-haul live network pilot without regeneration. This is another innovation of both parties in optical network technology, marking the maturity of the 400G ultra-long-haul transmission solution.

In the past few decades, the optical network has supported the emergence and popularization of a series of new technologies and new applications, has greatly promoted the progress of human society. In the next ten years, with the deployment of 5G, the popularization of gigabit broadband, and the construction of IDC data centers, the rate of network traffic explosion will still be higher than the pace of optical communication technology innovation. Network operators need to continue to innovate and adopt new technologies to expand their networks and control costs, while meeting the growing demand for 5G and cloud network integration. The key to this expansion is 400 Gigabit Ethernet (400G) technology.

Liaoning Mobile and FiberHome conducted research and analysis focusing on 400G long distance requirements. Based on Liaoning's optical network, the FiberHome Smart Optical Network was introduced, and the 400G OTN ultra-long-haul solution was innovatively launched. The program mainly has the following outstanding capabilities:
Large bandwidth: The use of high-performance DSP chips can effectively reduce the baud rate and achieve single wave 400G transmission. Compared with the original 100G system, the single-fiber system capacity is tripled and 67% of backbone fiber resources are saved. In addition, the use of silicon optical chips greatly reduces the single-bit power consumption while achieving high-speed transmission, has the characteristics of strong performance and low energy consumption.

Long-distance: Through probabilistic shaping technology and anti-non-linear algorithm, the deployment of 400G live network has achieved a breakthrough of 1000km long-distance transmission for the first time. While increasing the system capacity, it also reduces the investment in line regeneration.
