Recently, China Mobile Hubei Corporation officially announced the winning bid for the 2020-2021 open WDM equipment procurement project. This bidding added semi-active CWDM and MWDM models. FiberHome Communications won the bid with the second place. With FiberHome's third-generation CRAN fronthaul bearer solution, the pilot officially enters the commercial stage.
With the increase of 5G construction efforts of operators, the construction of 5G base stations in China has been far beyond expectations. In 2020, Hubei Mobile plans to build thousands of 5G base stations to achieve effective coverage in major urban areas, important industrial parks and traffic hotspots in the province. Therefore, by adopting DU centralized deployment, the capacity of a pair of optical fibers can be expanded up to 18 times through CRAN passive mode, thereby saving optical fiber resources and reducing construction costs.
However, with the improvement of business security requirements, how to ensure the industry, maintenance and safety under the premise of saving resources has become the focus of operators' construction.The semi-active model is added in this centralized procurement. The FiberHome CWDM semi-active solution can benefit the old optical module and protect the user's investment.
