Entering New Era of Optical Network, Shanghai Telecom and FiberHome Completed SC 600G+OXC Joint Test
Recently, Shanghai Telecom and FiberHome has completed the joint test of the first SC 600G+OXC in the domestic industry. FiberHome OXC device FONST 6000 X40 is used in this test, supporting up to 40-dimensional optical cross-connection and is compatible with 32 or 20 dimension as needed. The service card equipped is 1.2T ultra-high-density, supporting 2 single-carrier 600G transmission. The test items include index of 1.2T card, dual-carrier transmission, line adjustment of multi-mode and multi-frequency and stability of OXC system.
1.2T card achieves ultra-high-speed transmission
Shanghai Telecom's IDC business has developed rapidly. As early as 2015, Shanghai Telecom and FiberHome built the second OTN plane, adopting 100G to meet service development needs. In 2016, the 2*200G pilot was completed in the existing network. As the further growth of the network traffic, Shanghai Telecom and FiberHome completed the 600G test in order to meet the needs of sustainable development. The 1.2T ultra-high-density card developed by FiberHome is universal in the FONST 6000 series. The 2SC-PM-64QAM technology can achieve 1.2Tb/s line rate, and the single wavelength supports up to 600G. The carrier spacing is 75 GHz, the spectral efficiency is up to 8 b/s/Hz, and QPSK/16QAM/32QAM/64QAM flexible adjustment is supported.
Compared to traditional 96*100G, the fiber capacity of 1.2T transmission is 4 times larger, and the power consumption per bit is reduced by 70%. It is suitable for interconnection of large metro core sites, data centers and other large capacity transmission scenarios. 100GE and 400GE/600GE in the future is supportable.
OXC provides flexible schedule in optical layer
As the development of optical network, large bandwidth and flexible schedule has always been the focus of continuous pursuit in industry. The concept of optical cross-connection has experienced several changes since it was put forward. It evolves from the old point-to-point DWDM networking, to point-to-multipoint FOADM networking and recent ROADM networking equipped with WSS devices. Optical network has evolved into flat MESH networking, and interconnection between nodes is much more direct. However, due to the limitations of WSS dimension and the complexity of fiber connection, the industry is constantly seeking new solutions. Shanghai Telecom second OTN plane is the first metro optical network adopting 20 degree WSS in industry. As the growth of traffic and route, the maximum direction of single site has reached 18 degrees. The deployment of OXC equipment will reduce the quantity of device and fiber connection significantly, improve reliability and simplify operation and maintenance effectively.
OXC solution will be a highlight of the optical cross-connection technology. FiberHome OXC intelligent product broke through three technical difficulties:
1、 Flexible optical backplane:Printing 1000+ fibers in a 5-layer soft backplane to solve the problems of bending, increased insertion loss and easy breakage of fiber in a high-density state.
