FiberHome High-quality Broadband Analysis System for Improving Home Broadband Service
With the development of dual gigabit network and Internet services, home broadband service has stepped into a new stage. According to relevant data, about 65% of the user experience in online services is affected by the home network. Nowadays, people’s expectations and demands for gaming and video streaming are getting higher and higher, and the quality as well as the operation and maintenance (O&M) of home broadband service are facing increasing pressure.
At present, the home network O&M system is encountered with the following problems: complex home networking that makes the system incompetent to identify the causes of poor quality; lack of big data analysis, which prevents the system from managing user services effectively; the evaluation system focusing on network performance indicators and neglecting user experience and application performance, resulting in significant fluctuations in broadband user satisfaction.
FiberHome, based on big data, intelligence and other technologies, has launched the SmartQos@iPON high-quality broadband analysis system. It performs end-to-end quality intelligent analysis for both the home side and the network side, making the home broadband network closer to the goal of “autonomous driving”.
Based on the regular expression engine, the system is applied with stream mode, block mode and vector mode, as well as scanning application identification technology and Telemetry collection technology, and through the standard communication protocol interface, it can collect the information data on the characteristics of user online services in real time and efficiently. It also applies service indicators, Passive Optical network information indicators and home broadband network environment indicators to make a comprehensive analysis judgment and identify the optical modem users with poor broadband service quality, and further realizes the functions such as quality analysis, fault demarcation and localization, user profiling, and potential customer analysis. Finally, it can complete the self-definition of poor-quality user faults, improve the fault handling efficiency, reduce invalid communication and visits by human operators, and lower the operation costs. In addition, through the user profiling of the system, it can manage the user services in a refined way and improve the user experience and satisfaction.
1. Digital objective evaluation of broadband service quality
The system analyzes the basic KPIs of the network and records the poor quality time of business applications through 24-hour continuous streaming, and evaluates them based on a unified public feature database, finally forming a more objective and fair poor quality analysis result. Moreover, to meet the diverse user needs scenarios, the feature database and the judgment threshold will also be constantly revised and improved to achieve precise evaluation.
2. Shifting home broadband O&M service model from reactive to proactive
The system monitors the user-side Internet application service KPIs in real time and integrates various data to identify the specific phenomena and causes of poor quality for users. For the problems that require on-site solutions, the O&M staff will proactively provide on-site service, which greatly improves the service reputation and customer satisfaction.
3. Improving efficiency and reducing difficulty in O&M
The system identifies the causes and locations of poor quality based on the alarms and performance indicators of the Passive Optical network and home network. It guides the O&M staff to accurately locate and resolve the faults by using appropriate solutions, so as to reduce time and difficulty of troubleshooting and fault finding in the backend and on-site O&M, and improve, the O&M efficiency.
4. Generating user profiles and providing refined services
Based on users’ Internet traffic, high-frequency applications and heavy application hobbies, the system provides user profiling reports that help users to find suitable products and services, such as application acceleration and intelligent networking products. The system also supports the operator's business promotion by providing targeted and personalized recommendations.
The SmartQos@iPON high-quality broadband analysis system is a cutting-edge solution that has been successfully deployed to serve over 100,000 users with enhanced broadband quality. It enables operators to build L3-level “autonomous driving” home broadband networks. FiberHome is committed to continuous optimization and innovation to help operators deliver high-quality and excellent home broadband services.
